My piece depicts a young African American women facing straight, she has on dark makeup and a tank top. The most obvious element used is value. The most obvious principle is contrast
To create this piece I lightly outlined the shaped of the face and all the details such as the eyes, mouth, nose and eyebrows. After I lightly outlined I started to shade, adding in light shades first the darker ones. After shading I started on the hair going piece by piece. When the hair is complete I went back and darkened my dark shades and lightened my lights.
My inspiration for this piece was the complexity of shading darker skin. I chose to do an African American women because I wanted to focus on the melanin of the dark skin and how beautiful they are. The emotion I wanted to convey was a peaceful feeling as you viewed my piece.
My goal as an artist was to learn how to make my piece look more realistic and to practice on details in the human face. I did reach my goal because my piece look super realistic and I think I did a good job on the details in the face structure.
By creating this piece I learned how to evenly blend values. Overall I love this piece because it shows how I my art skills have grown over a year. I will use what I learned on this piece for future works because it will make my art look 10 times better than it has in the past.
Title: Killer of Time
My piece depicts a skeleton smoking a cigarette with a clock as the center of the body, to show how cigarettes kill over time. The most obvious element used is space. The most obvious principle is balance.
To create this piece I lightly outlined the figure of the skeleton . After I lightly outlined I started the background, adding in shades and values. After the background was done I started add paint and details to the figure. When the skeleton was finished I went back in and sharpened everything up and made it look real clean.
My inspiration for this piece was a family friend that passed away from lung cancer at a very young age. The emotion I wanted to convey was kind of a relatable feeling I wanted to catch the viewers attention by focusing on a problem in real life.
My goal as an artist was to learn how to make my piece look more realistic with using acrylic paint and blending in details. I did reach my goal because the blending on my piece looks very smooth and clean.
By creating this piece I learned how to evenly blend values acrylic paint and make smooth surface. Overall I love this piece because it shows how I my art skills have grown over a year. I will use what I learned on this piece for future works because it will make my art look way better.
Title: Nature slither
My piece depicts a long dark green snake, curled up, with yellow and light green spots on the skin. The most obvious element used is value and texture. The most obvious principle is balance.
To create this piece I started by sketching in my art book my design, after that I thought of the material I was going to use in my piece. when I finally figured out how I was going to create my piece started. First I shaped the snake with thick wire, then slowly added newspaper to make is sturdy. then I paper Mache and added designs on the paper to give it texture.
My inspiration for this piece was the love I have for reptiles. The emotion I wanted to convey was a calm feeling for people who have the same interest as me.

Title: Ski Mask
My piece depicts a young rapper who goes by the name "ski mask the slump god" . In the piece he has a big smile. The piece is also done in black and white with only two bright colors being used. The most obvious element used would have to be value or color. The most obvious principle is emphasis because I had his smile, durag and the words above him stand out.
To create this piece I lightly outlined the shaped of the face and all the details such as the eyes, mouth, nose and emphasized his mouth to catch the viewers attention. After I lightly outlined everything I started to add color using prismas . I did my highlights and lights and then my darks. used black and white to add balance to the piece.
My inspiration for this piece was the fact that he is one of my favorite rappers. I chose to do Ski Mask The Slump God because I think his music has an upbeat feeling and he influences many people.. The emotion I wanted to convey was a upbeat feeling as you viewed my piece.
My goal as an artist was to learn how to make my piece look more realistic while still having that cartoonish look. I did reach my goal because my piece look like a combination of cartoony real. I think I did a good job on the details on the mouth structure.

Title: Mother tree
My piece depicts a tree like figure of a mother and a child growing in the sunset with hills behind them. The most obvious element used is color and value because I have bright colors next to dark browns . The most obvious principle is contrast because the way I used a bright background with a dark figure catches the viewers eye and makes them look at the piece more.
To create this piece I started with 4 sketches to have an idea of what my piece will look like so no mistakes would be made . After I did my 4 sketches I stated the process. First I started drawing the main sketch on to a canvas board of the size I wanted. Then I starting with the background, adding in colors and blending to make it look like the sunset, this took a lot of patience. After that I added all my colors and blend the background I added the figure and just the main focus points. finally I went back and added details and cleaned up around the piece to make it look cleaner.
My inspiration for this piece was the connection between a mother and child. I feel like a mother impacts the child in serious ways. during pregnancy the mother's energy can have a major impact on the child's behavior and all that. I feel like a child gets a lot of things from their mother. The emotion I wanted to convey was a peaceful and loving feeling as you viewed my piece and thought of the process of caring for a child and the way their energy can impact them.
My goal as an artist was to learn how to make my piece better by practicing on details and blending acrylic paint better . I did reach my goal because my piece look very interesting and catches the viewers eye and makes them think of the importance of carrying a child and the greater impacts the mothers energy can have on an unborn child and after the child is born.
By creating this piece I learned how to evenly blend acrylic paint better to make my piece look more cleaner and professional. Overall I love this piece because it shows how my art skills of handling acrylic paint and blending has grown over the years and how I can do things I like to do and art I think is important to me. Title: Beautiful bodt
My piece depicts a young women who it nude. It only shows from the breast down to the center thigh. she is holding her lower stomach. The most obvious element used is shape and form. The most obvious principle is balance with the bright skin color and the dull background.
To create this piece I lightly outlined the body shape I wanted, first I wanted to go with a pregnant woman but I decided to do a thin figure. After I mapped everything out I started to add to it. First I added my highlights/ dark whites. Then I slightly added white to almost the whole piece. After that I added light skin colors then added darker colors. Finally after adding my dark colors and details I burnished.
My inspiration for this piece was the complexity of a woman's body, the curves an shapes . I chose to do a nude women because I wanted to focus on the proportions of the body and how there are many curves and shapes in the form of the body. The emotion I wanted to convey was a peaceful feeling as you viewed my piece.
My goal as an artist was to learn how to make my piece look more realistic and to practice on details in the human body with using Prisma color. I did reach my goal because my piece look super realistic and I think I did a good job on the details of the body and the proportions and how I blended the skin tone.

Overall I love this piece because it shows how I my art skills have grown over the years and how I can step out of my comfort zone without regret. Title: Tinker bell light
My piece depicts a lantern type of tinker bell house . It has a lot of different types of coils and details on the sides. The door is heart shaped and the roof is made of 'Leaf's" . The most obvious element used is shape and form. The most obvious principle is balance with the calm outside with the leaf's at the roof which work every well together.
To create this piece I started with 4 sketches to have an idea of what my piece will look like all the way around so no mistakes would be made . After I did my 4 sketches I stated the process. First I started with a circler base no thicker than my thumb. Then I starting adding coils in a upward motion, making sure I added different types to add details. After that I added all my coils and blend the inside I added details to the coils for texture. Finally I added the leaf top to bring the whole piece together.
My inspiration for this piece was a candle holder I had when I was younger, the curves an shapes, but as I kept adding coils and blending them out it began to look like something from tinker bell which was a cute idea so I just started adding things that resembled the little fairy houses in the movie such as the leaf roof and the heart shaped opening. The emotion I wanted to convey was a peaceful feeling as you viewed my piece and thought of their childhood.
My goal as an artist was to learn how to make my piece better by practicing on details on the coils to make the piece catch the viewers eye . I did reach my goal because my piece look very interesting and catches the viewers eye and makes them think of their childhood when they would watch these anime movies like tinker bell.
By creating this piece I learned how to evenly blend clay better to make my piece look more cleaner and professional. Overall I love this piece because it shows how I my art skills with dealing with clay have grown over the years and how I can step out of my comfort zone without regret by making something that I personal think is interesting. I will use what I learned on this piece for future works because it will make my clay pieces 10 times better than it has in the past and help me grow as a artist I want to be.
